Stanley Rubin Obituary

Old Orchard Beach,Maine—Stanley Rubin, 86, of Old Orchard Beach died August 5, 2019, in St. Andre’s Health Care Center in Biddeford.

He was born February 4, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a son of Charles and Dora Ettinger Rubin.

He was educated in Philadelphia schools.  During the Korean Conflict he served in the U S Army.  Most of his adult life Stanley was self employed as a concessionaire at various State Fairs along the East  Coast from Maine to Florida.  

Several years ago following the death of his wife, Dolores Helene Maybin, he settled in Old Orchard Beach.  During the summer months he work on the Pier in Old Orchard Beach as a demonstrator of various kitchen and food gadgets.

He was very active in various veterans groups throughout York County and helping Homeless Veterans. He was a member of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars and the C. Fayette Staples American Legion Post both of Old Orchard Beach.  He was a member of the Old Orchard Beach Synagogue on East Grand Avenue.

He enjoyed watching and discussing professional sports especially the Boston Red Sox.

For many years he was part of the “Over the Hill Gang” which met daily at the former A Z’s Super Market on Heath Street in Old Orchard Beach.  He was very opiniated in various political discussions among the group.

His only son Robert Rubin died in 2004.

Survivors include 2 granddaughters, Leah Rubin and Ashley Picard both of Old Orchard Beach.

Graveside services  with Military Honors for Stanley Rubin,86, who died August 5, 2019, will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, September 6, 2019, in Southern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, 83 Stanley Road, Springvale.
