Genevieve D Sawtelle

Jen passed away November 6, 2023, at her home in Old Orchard Beach.

She was born October 15, 1928, in Rumford, Maine. She was raised there and graduated from Stephens High School.

In December 1949 while working as a secretary, she met the love of her life Richard Sawtelle. They were married six months later on June 17, 1950.

Jen was a devout Catholic and attended St. Mary's Church in Biddeford. She was very active in her church. She served on parish council, helped with St. Patrick's Day concerts and parish fairs. She was a eucharistic minister and made a cursillo.

She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for many years. She also belonged to the Red Hat Society. She was always a room mother for each of her daughters every year.

She is predeceased by her husband Richard and daughter Cindy. Her parents, Sgt. Arthur Dalton, Annie Desmond, her brothers O.J. and James and sister Anne.

She is survived by her daughter Kathi-Ann and her children, Marie Lamontage, Joseph (JJ) Picard, Richard (Ricky) Picard and his wife Carol; Sandy Mailman and her children Brian and Christopher; daughter Becky Sawtelle; and five great-grandchildren, Samantha, Michael, Kaden, Brantley and Elroy. She also leaves behind her devoted Shih-Tzu Miles, whom she affectionately called Buddy.

A graveside service will be held on November 15 at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Cemetery in Biddeford.

The family thanks the staff at Northern Light Home Care and Hospice for the exceptional care they gave their mother/grandmother at the end of her life.
