Obituary

Froberg, Robert M. (Bob), 61, died unexpectedly April 14 at his home in Old Orchard Beach, ME. He is predeceased by his parents Burton and Rhoda V. Greene Froberg of North Kingstown, RI. Bob is survived by his sons Stephen (Bonnie) Froberg of Plantsville, CT, and Andrew (Elizabeth) Froberg of Rogers, CT; and grandchildren: Makayla, Hunter, Bryan and Holli Froberg and step-grandson Mekell Elliott; as well as his ex-wife Patricia Kristen of Farmington, CT; and his brother David (Rose Ann) Froberg of Temple Terrace, FL.

Bob began his 39-year career in telecommunications after graduating from the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor's degree in political science and government. He started out with New England Telephone in Providence in 1977, and over the years held more increasingly responsible sales positions in the telecommunications and managed IP services industries in Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut and Florida. From the late 70s to early 90s, as the industry merged and changed, Bob moved up the corporate ladder with New England Telephone, NYNEX and Bell Atlantic. He left Bell System in 1999 to become the COO and eventually president and chief sales executive with IntelliSpace in New York City. When IntelliSpace was bought out in 2004, Bob eventually joined Inteligy in Tampa, FL, and worked as their sales director until joining Fairpoint Communications in 2007. He eventually became their assistant vice president of business sales. In 2012 he left Fairpoint, and until his death, was director of commercial and wholesale sales at OTT Communications, based in Portland.

When not working, Bob liked spending time with his cat, Miss "T", playing golf, cooking, talking politics and Boston sports, but he especially loved being with his family and friends. With his ever present smile and "Hello there" greeting, he could always be counted on to offer help to family, friends and co-workers when needed. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 21, at Old Orchard Beach Funeral Home, 36 Portland Ave, Old Orchard Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or to a charity of your choice in Bob's name.
