Obituary

SCARBOROUGH – "Grace" L. Bergeron, 88, Pine Point, formerly of Old Orchard Beach passed away on January 5, 2017, in Scarborough.

The second eldest daughter of Arthur and Loretta Loranger, Grace was born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1928.

After the family relocated to Maine, she attended Old Orchard Beach High School, graduating as the valedictorian of her class in 1946.

She then worked for a number of years as a stenographer at Saco-Lowell Shops in Biddeford.

She married Robert Bergeron in 1949. He became the well-known proprietor of Bill's Pizza and Ken's Place in Old Orchard Beach and Scarborough.

Later in life, Grace enjoyed golfing and spent her winters in Marco Island, Florida. She was an avid reader, loved her daily crossword puzzle and morning walk in her Pine Point neighborhood and was an expert at identifying local birds.

She was a longtime parishioner of St. Margaret's Church in Old Orchard Beach.  She later became a parishioner of St. Maximillian Kolbe Church in Scarborough upon the establishment of the parish.

She is survived by her two sons, John and James "Jeb" Bergeron, of Scarborough and Placida, Florida; her sister, Irene Murray of Limerick; a brother Robert Loranger of Brisbane, Australia; her only granddaughter, Miranda Bergeron, a student at Boston College; her five dear nieces and nephew, Judith Gaudette of Windermere, Florida, Roberta Mulazzi of Scarborough, Diana Murray of Ashford, Connecticut, Guy Loranger, Ann Loranger and Michelle Marshall, all of Old Orchard Beach; and many other beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She is predeceased by her husband, Robert Bergeron, of Scarborough, her brother Charles Loranger, of Old Orchard Beach and her sister Marie Loranger, of Scarborough.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks to Debbie Jones, who dedicated herself to providing the highest quality care and daily companionship to Grace in her final years, the other caregivers who allowed her to spend as much time as she did in her Pine Point home and to Beacon Hospice for their compassionate care while in assisted living.
